Infrastructure Enhancements

The Commission continues to monitor and initiate investments in energy and utility infrastructure improvements. Our goal is to ensure the safety, reliability, and sustainability of the city’s utility delivery systems.

Pepco's Capital Grid Project is a long-term electric utility initiative to address aging infrastructure, enhanced system resiliency, improved reliability, and load growth in the District of Columbia.

DC PLUG is a public-private partnership between Pepco and District Government agencies to improve electric service reliability and reduce the impact of storm-related outages in the District by placing vulnerable overhead distribution lines underground.

Modernizing the District's natural gas distribution system involves replacing older pipelines to enhance safety and reliability. This work is conducted under WGL’s accelerated replacement program, PROJECTpipes, as well as the proposed District SAFE Plan.
