Must suppliers wishing to provide both electric and natural gas services submit separate initial applications?
Yes.
Must suppliers applying to provide both electric and natural gas services submit a $400 filing fee for each application?
Yes.
What type of information must suppliers (aggregators, brokers, and marketers) submit in their initial application in order to obtain a license?
The suppliers must provide the information requested in
RM 46-2024-01 and/or
RM 47-2024-01 of the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations.
When are electricity and natural gas supplier licenses up for renewal?
A current electricity or natural gas supplier license must be renewed every five years after the date it was issued or last renewed.
Is there a filing fee to renew an electricity supplier and/or natural gas supplier’s license?
No.
How long does it take for the DCPSC to process a renewal application?
The Commission will review the renewal application within 30 days after it is filed.
Will the DCPSC issue an order approving or denying a renewal application?
No. If the renewal application is incomplete or deficient in any way, the Commission may request additional information from the supplier. If the renewal application is deemed complete, the Commission will take no further action and the license will remain in effect.
Who is subject to the DCPSC supplier licensing requirements?
Any person who engages in the business of an electricity or natural gas supplier in the District of Columbia must submit an application or renewal application for a license.
Are suppliers that have been licensed five years or more but are not currently providing services to customers exempt from submitting a renewal application?
No. All suppliers licensed five years or more are required to submit a renewal application.
Are suppliers that provide both electric and natural gas services required to submit separate renewal application forms?
No. Suppliers providing both services can submit one application that includes information for both services. However, the supplier in this example must submit separate Affidavits of General Compliance and bond forms that are particular to the service provided (i.e., electricity or natural gas).
