Shanelle Patterson

Karen HesterDCPSC welcomes Shanelle Patterson as the new Executive Assistant to Commissioner Emile C. Thompson

Prior to joining the Commission, Shanelle practiced law at a small family-business law firm, led a team at Martha’s Table, and most recently worked at the Mayor’s Office of Talents and Appointments.

Shanelle’s expertise and background are in litigation, advocacy, transactional law, legal research and writing, and detailed communication. As a community advocate, she has worked collaboratively with diverse groups and various attorneys to create legal strategies, strategically coordinated with organizations to create partnerships, and fortified relationships with community members to support collective missions.

A change agent, Shanelle has a unique skill set to advocate for people and positive and innovative change that leads to a fair and equal chance at success for everyone.

Shanelle is a graduate of Howard University and Temple Beasley School of Law. She is a native New Yorker but has called the District of Columbia her home for approximately 15 years. An attorney, advocate, and community organizer, her passion is being a voice for the voiceless and fighting for equity and justice in the private and public sectors.
